RE: Macropede shell studies
I went a little further with the shell. This time the inner ribs are CAD drawn and printed on paper. The shell is from paper and 2D bend only. So I can use stiff paper, fabric or thin 3D printed plates to cover it later.
![]() Started to build the inner structure by 3D printed parts. Have to think about how to connect all this: ![]() Rainer http://www.steamboating.de |

next step
I found some good curves for the ribs:
![]() Here glued together with paper strips - will replace this with plastic of cause. ![]() Covered with paper to verify the outer shape. No concept for tail and head now... ![]() Please notice - this is a smaler eye module with smaler servos. Rainer http://www.steamboating.de |

Macropede R2
Hello friends,
I started to print the R2 body of macropede. No big new things but still some new ideas about strength and printability. I also can mount the muscels in a propper manner now - even in two alternative positions. Also a support for the eye module is included plus some spare posts for mounting brain and other bowels. ![]() Yes, this are two parts... Next will be the design challenge for the front and aft section... Just a little detail. Now you can use the wrench for the M3 nuts without problem at all 32 positions! Here it is not possible to integrate a support for the nut into the structure because you need this to adjust the bearing play and to secure it by tighten the nut. ![]() PS: bad print because of lousy ABS...
